Abstract

I wrote my novella, The Library Book, in partial fulfillment of my creative writing seminar. The majority of the coursework of this seminar consisted of writing and revising an entire novella from initial conception and outlining to final revisions. I am submitting my revised copy of The Library Book, which I submitted as the final project of my ENGL 470B seminar. I received an A on this project and will be reading a section of my novella at the 2019 Kemp Symposium this Friday. The Library Book is a forty-eight-page fantasy novella written for a middle grade audience. It centers around the thirteen-year-old main character, Samar, who finds himself in a magical library. The thematic elements of the novella focus on an exploration of toxic masculinity and the impact of technology and AI on human life. I hope to eventually publish this and expand it into a full novel.
