Our department houses five distinct but closely related programs: Art History, Anthropology, Classical Studies, Philosophy (including Pre-Law), and Religious Studies. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We serve as the heart of a Liberal Arts Education at the University of Mary Washington. In our individual and collective efforts, we promote investigation into the historical and social understanding of our past, our current social relations and ethical responsibilities, and conceptions of self. In achieving these goals, our faculty promote a diversity of ideas, enable and encourage critical thinking and productive dialogue, and promote informed community engagement in the interest of social justice. Finally, we are home to the Leidecker Center for Asian Studies and the Khatib Program in Religion and Dialogue.
